ASUS ROG Strix XG27JCG Launched, is World’s First 5K 180Hz Dual-Mode Gaming Monitor

ASUS has just launched the brand new ROG Strix XG27JCG gaming display, a 27-inch beast that pushes resolution and speed to new heights. At its heart is a 27-inch Fast IPS panel that produces a native 5,120 by 2,880 pixel display, good for full 5K resolution and an astonishing 218 pixels per inch.

When you switch to dual-mode, the screen’s resolution lowers to 2,560 by 1,440, but then jumps up to a refresh rate of 330Hz. That’s a game changer for competitive players, as it gives them the added smoothness they need to react in the blink of an eye, all from the same panel without the need to boot up a second display. Even in full 5K mode, with some overclocking, you can achieve a 180 Hz refresh rate and a lightning-fast response time of just 0.3 milliseconds. And to keep action looking crisp and clear, you get innovations like Extreme Low action Blur 2, which uses a dual backlight system with several zones to reduce blur and make the strobe effects pop.

You can also expect greater color integrity with VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification for peak brightness of 600 nits, and a 1500:1 contrast ratio. Details in supported content will now pop off the screen, and with viewing angles of 178 degrees, you can get a consistent image from practically anywhere in your home.

All of this is just the tip of the iceberg; adaptive sync is compatible with both NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium, so you can say goodbye to screen tearing. You also get some useful tools, such as Variable Overdrive to help you modify pixel response and some cool AI capabilities that adjust shadows, crosshairs, and picture settings based on what’s on screen.

This display also has a DisplayPort 1.4 with compression support, two HDMI 2.1 connections, a USB-C port capable of video input and 15-watt charging, as well as a number of downstream USB ports and a headphone jack.
