Lenovo Auto-Twist AI PC Could Go from Concept to Reality in 2026

Last October, Lenovo unveiled a prototype of a laptop with an auto-rotating screen, called the Auto-Twist AI PC. People could observe as the display swung around to follow a person going across the room or switched to tablet mode with a simple voice command. Many dismissed it as just another sophisticated concept that would never leave the lab, but recent leaks indicate that things may be changing.
According to sources close to Lenovo, they will put a production version named the ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist on the market, with sales beginning in June. The announcement will be publicly revealed at CES in January 2026. Surprisingly, the price is planned to be a pretty modest $1,499, which, all things considered, is less than many people expected for this kind of device.

What powers all of this fancy screen-shifting is a motorized hinge that has undergone significant improvement since its prototype days, resulting in a device that is now faster, quieter, and more reliable for daily use. The hinge allows you to convert fluidly between a typical notebook layout, a flat-on-the-tablet configuration, and a variety of additional angles for group watching; even with a standard notebook layout, the front speakers will move to keep the sound aimed straight at the listener.
In terms of software, a camera paired with some onboard processing can pick out faces and then, depending on what’s going on, either adjust the screen so everyone stays dead-center during a video call or simply switch the whole thing into a different mode altogether. All of this happens without you having to raise a finger; yet, if you want to change things up, you may shout commands at it.
Four microphones on board pick up sounds from across the room while filtering out any unwanted noises in the background. To top it all off, there’s a 14-inch screen with OLED panels for deep blacks and all the colors you could want, a 2.8K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate so anything you throw at the screen will look nice and smooth, and a brightness of up to 500 nits to ensure a decent display even in bright indoor light.

When it comes internals, there’s some reasonable power on tap in the form of an Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processor, so the thing should qualify as a Copilot+ PC for local AI tasks. You can configure it with up to 32GB of fast memory and 2TB of solid-state storage, which should keep you going for a long time, but the 75 watt-hour battery inside is probably going to be pushing it a little if you want to get a full day’s use out of it, with the motor whirring around all the time.

The build quality is supposed to be aimed squarely at business types, with the whole thing weighing in at 1.4 kg and a thickness ranging from 16 to 24 mm, but port-wise, it has a couple of Thunderbolt 4 connectors, two standard USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, and an audio jack, not to mention Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity, as well as a fingerprint reader and a privacy shutter for security.

Design-wise, it’s a step up from the prior Yoga convertibles, which required you to manually fold the screen back to use it in a different mode, which, to be honest, was always going to be a nuisance. Now that all of the manual tweaking is done, the screen will simply flip into position (or whatever other configuration you like) with much less effort on your side and hopefully less wear on the device.
