Mohamed Salah back in Liverpool squad for Brighton game after ‘peace talks’ with Arne Slot | Football
Mohamed Salah will return to Liverpool’s squad for Saturday’s game against Brighton after ‘peace talks’ with Arne Slot, according to reports.
Salah sensationally claimed he had been ‘thrown under the bus’ by Liverpool and had ‘no relationship’ with head coach Slot in a dramatic public interview following the 3-3 draw at Leeds United last week.
The Egypt international, one of the biggest legends in Liverpool’s history, was subsequently dropped from the squad entirely for the 1-0 win over Inter Milan on Tuesday.
It was suggested that Salah’s future at Anfield was firmly in doubt but the 33-year-old is now back in the Liverpool squad for this weekend’s clash with Brighton, The Guardian have reported.
Salah, who is heading to the Africa Cup of Nations after the match between Liverpool and Brighton, has not started any of the Reds’ last four games and has been in poor form.

The right winger’s fallout with Slot has dominated headlines all week and it is currently unclear if Salah has privately apologised to the Dutchman or not, with the exact details of their conversation remaining secret for now.
Salah’s bombshell interview after the draw with Leeds was labelled a ‘disgrace’ by football pundit and Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher.
Speaking last Saturday in the mixed zone, Salah said: ‘I could not believe I was sitting on the bench for 90 minutes. That’s the third time. It’s the first time in my career I think.
‘[I am] very disappointed, I have done so much for this club over the years, especially last season. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That’s how I feel.
‘Someone wants me to get all the blame. The club promised me a lot in summer. Now I’m on the bench so I can say they haven’t kept those promises.
‘I used to have a good relationship [with manager Slot]. Now we don’t have any relationship and I don’t know why.’
Salah helped Liverpool win the Premier League title last season in Slot’s debut season as head coach.
But the Reds have massively struggled this season and have fallen down to 10th in the top-flight table after their opening 15 games.
Salah had faced criticism this term for a perceived lack of effort – although it should be noted that Slot himself took away a large portion of the player’s defensive responsibilities after succeeding Jurgen Klopp.
Reacting to Salah’s comments after the draw with Leeds, former Liverpool defender Carragher said: ‘I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game.
‘I think whenever Mo Salah stops in the mixed zone, which he’s done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it’s choreographed between him and his agent to cause maximum damage and to strengthen his own position.’
Salah has played a total of 420 games for Liverpool to date, registering 250 goals and 116 assists.
He has helped Liverpool win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, the Club World Cup, the Super Cup and the Community Shield since joining the club from Roma in 2017.
