Actor Seth Edeen chatted about his acting career, starring in vertical dramas, and being a part of the digital age.
Margaret Mead once said: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” This quote applies to Seth Edeen.
Daily motivations as an actor
Regarding his daily motivations, Edeen stated, “In my acting journey — I’ve only been acting for a couple of years — and I’ve been learning a lot about myself. Each day, I am learning more about myself and what makes me tick, and what types of things trigger certain types of emotions and feeling out of me.”
“I also do a lot of reading so I can like try to build my imagination, and work that part of my brain more,” he noted.
“As you get older, you kind of lose your creative mind unless you are constantly working. So, every day I try to read or do something creative to work those parts of my brain,” he elaborated.
Vertical dramas
On starring in vertical dramas, Edeen remarked, “It’s cool. When I first started doing them, I never would have expected that it would become such a long-term thing.”
“I remember I did my first one and it was such a whirlwind,” he admitted. “I didn’t think there was any way that this was ever going to last, but here we are two years later, and I’ve made a whole career out of it.”
Brotherhood with the other male vertical actors
Edeen opened up about the brotherhood with the other male actors in the vertical drama world, which include Noah Fearnley, Tyler Scherer, Eric Guilmette, and Luke Charles Stafford.
“It’s sick. They are an awesome bunch of guys,” he noted. “I’m so grateful to spend some time with them because I never get to work with any of these other super talented guys that do all these other movies and shows.”
“While I’ve never met some of the other guys such as Kyle “Kiki” Fragnoli, I feel like I’ve known them because I see their work everywhere,” he said.
:We are all in the same industry, and it’s really cool that in the law few months we’ve started this little brotherhood and bond amongst the five of us as we are leading the charge in the vertical world right now. It is neat to see where all our careers will go five or ten years from now,” he explained.
Future plans
On his future plans, he shared, “I want to keep growing in the vertical world. It’s an ever-growing kind of thing. Ever since I started in it two years ago to where it is now, it has grown so much.”
“Verticals are something I’ve always wanted to do because I’m always sentimental and I try not to forget where I came from. So, I always want to have a presence in the vertical world,” he acknowledged.
“Personally, I also want to continue to grow and do more film and TV projects,” he added.
The digital age
On being an actor in the digital age, he said, “It’s cool! Similar to verticals, this digital age is something that is very new to all of us. Even though I’ve been on Instagram since I was like in high school (ever since 2010), it feels like I’ve been on social media my whole life.”
“When you think of society and the world, the digital age is just a small blip on the radar of the grand scheme of things,” he noted.
“So, it’s cool to be at the forefront of the new digital and scripted media,” he said.
“The digital world is really blowing up with TikTok and the organic influencer type of things, but it really hasn’t blossomed into the scripted types of entertainment,” he explained.
“So, I’m really excited and veryy optimistic about what is yet to come with all of that,” he added.
Career-defining moments
On his career-defining moments, Edeen shared, “When ‘Breaking the Ice’ came out, which is my hockey show I did with Nicole Mattox, that was one of my biggest ones.”
“I remember finding out when I was in New York actually shooting a show, and the series came out while I was in New York,” he recalled.
“The next thing I knew was that my TikTok and Instagram were blowing up like crazy, and that was a pleasant surprise,” he noted.
“So, that has been the biggest moment that has stuck out in my head thus far. My life has not been the same ever since, so that’s cool,” he elaborated.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Edeen revealed, “The Next Step.”
“I’ve only done verticals, and now I’m in the part of my career where I’m going to take the next step,” he admitted.
“I’m shooting a feature film next month. So, it’s going to be my first time being a lead in a feature film, which I’m really excited for,” he foreshadowed.
Superpower of choice
His superpower of choice would be to have “superspeed.”
“I would probably want to have superspeed,” he said. “When I was an athlete growing up, I always loved being the fastest vs. the strongest, so that would be my superpower.”
Success
Regarding his definition of success, Edeen said, “Success, to me, is a really hard thing to quantify. In the acting world, I think success is just being able to work as an actor. So basically, being able to do acting as a living and not having to do anything else.”
“Prior to acting, I would do catering, and I was a civil engineer before I moved to Los Angeles. I’m really good with fixing things up,” he said. “I would do these little side hustles to try to supplement, but now I’m able to do acting full-time.”
“Success is being able to do what I love for a living. Waking up every day doing what I love to do. Not many people get to say that,” he added.
Message for his fans
For his fans and supporters, Edeen expressed, “Thank you for all the love and support that the vertical fans have shown me. It is crazy, and I am forever indebted to all of them.”
“Every single day, I wake up and I go on my Instagram and there’s a super cool new edit that has been made of all my different shows,” he observed.
“My fans are the best. Without them, there would be no verticals,” he conceded. “Their support is invaluable. I will always be forever grateful for their love and support, and for being there with me every step of the way on this journey.”
“I’m still learning about myself, my acting and everything. So, it has been a very fun and fulfilling journey. Once again, I’m thankful for all the fans that continue to watch me and support me,” he concluded.
