Veteran actor Michael Peña (“Crash” and “World Trade Center”) chatted about starring in the mystery series “All Her Fault” on Peacock, where he played Detective Alcaras.

The synopsis is: Marissa Irvine (Sarah Snook) arrives to pick up her young son Milo from his first playdate, but the woman who answers the door isn’t a mother she recognizes. She doesn’t have Milo and has never heard of him.

As every parent’s worst nightmare begins to unfold, new questions lead to deep secrets, revealing cracks in the Irvines’ seemingly perfect world until everything is left shattered.

Peña on ‘All Her Fault’

On being a part of “All Her Fault,” Peña exclaimed, “It was great! We shot it in a Melbourne, Australia, which is where Sarah Snook lives, and at first, I couldn’t believe we were going to Australia because it’s so far away.”

“We ended up loving it,” he admitted. “We stayed in Fitzroy and we went to Australian Football League (AFL) games. Fitzroy is a phenomenal place, and we loved Melbourne and Australia.”

“Presently, I am in the Gold Coast filming a movie with Chris Hemsworth. So, obviously, Australia is one of the best countries I’ve visited,” he admitted.

Lessons learned from this role and screenplay

On the lessons learned from this role and screenplay, Peña reflected, “I have no idea what it taught me… that always comes into play years later, but I will tell you what I appreciated.”

“First and foremost, I appreciated the stories, which were fantastic. The scripts were page turned and I loved that,” he said. “For me, I loved working with Orlando the most from Episode 4 and beyond.”

Working with Orlando Ivanovic

Peña had great words about young actor Orlando Ivanovic. “I really enjoyed working with Orlando,” he said. “There was always structure to the scenes but you really had to be in the moment with him, and just go wherever the scene goes.”

“You have to study those scenes even better so that you can guide it back to the scripted material, and that super fun, man. I really liked it. Orlando had great energy. We would go over to his house all the time and play,” he elaborated.

“We had a couple things that we would say back and forth. He would love to say, ‘that’s it’! Orlando was really the star of the show. He has amazing energy, and it was really a gift to work with him, for sure,” Peña expressed.

Peña on the greatest lesson that the acting profession has taught him

On the greatest lesson that the acting profession has taught him, he stated, “To be honest with you, I grew up in Chicago, which was not the greatest area. I used to be closed off and not very expressive with my emotions.”

“As an actor, you really have to express yourself and talk about your feelings or whatever. Acting really teaches you about self-discovery and being vulnerable,” he explained.

Stage of his life

Regarding the title of the current chapter of his life, he revealed, “Let’s try it!”

Peña on Sarah Snook in ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’

Speaking of “All Her Fault” lead actress Sarah Snook, he praised her performance in her Broadway solo show “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” for which she won the 2025 Tony Award for “Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Play” for playing 26 different characters.

“We saw it twice,” Peña noted. “It was so good! Sarah was incredible. I was blown away the first time, and the second time we saw it, which was closer to the end, she was just firing on all cylinders.”

“To keep that up for that many months is just insane. It was really, really good,” he said complimenting “The Picture of Dorian Gray.”

Success

Regarding his definition of the word success, Peña shared, “Success, for me, is being tasked with a known obstacle, and doing everything I can to pull it off.”

“It can happen with acting too,” he said. “If there is something that I want to accomplish in a scene (that may not even be required), and then I accomplish it for myself, that is a success to me. That’s a win.”

“If I only do the bare necessity, then that’s always boring,” he attested.

Closing thoughts on ‘All Her Fault’ on Peacock

For fans and viewers, he remarked about “All her Fault,” “I hope they watch all the episodes, I hope they enjoy it, and then, have debates about them. I want them to start debating and start talking.”

“My wife sends me a bunch of TikToks of people discussing different episodes, so that’s really, really neat,” he concluded.
