On Saturday, December 20, 2025, Blue Origin transported six passengers on an incredible trip beyond Earth’s atmosphere. At 8:15am CST the New Shepard rocket took off from Launch Site One, also known as Corn Ranch, nestled in the Guadalupe Mountains near Van Horn, TX, and its crew included the first person to enter space in a wheelchair.

Michaela Benthaus, a 33-year-old aerospace engineer at the European Space Agency, had achieved great success after overcoming numerous obstacles. She severely injured her spine in a mountain biking accident in 2018, but still participated in a variety of activities, including zero-gravity research flights in 2022 and even an analogue astronaut mission in Poland.
