Huawei’s X3 Pro Wants to be the Router That Climbs Mountains

Huawei X3 Pro Router Mountain Design
Huawei has unveiled a Wi-Fi router that shatters all preconceptions about what these devices are supposed to look like. The X3 Pro is a sleek, mountain-inspired objet d’art that boasts a clear cone and a textured peak inside. The main unit is long and thin at the top, flares out at the bottom, and has a translucent top piece that let some light in. A metal band wraps around the center, with a gold-etched mountain design and the Huawei emblem beneath it. Off the back of the main unit is a compact satellite router, perfect for expanding your network without making a big impact.

Light is the actual star of the show here; the X3 Pro includes built-in lights that change from warm golden tones to cold white as the day progresses. It’s more than simply fancy technology; the concept was inspired by the lava lamps that some of us still have from the 1960s. They were originally employed to aid in the generation of strong encryption keys, and Huawei has carried over that vibe to the X3 Pro. Plunk this thing onto a coffee table or sideboard and it’ll just fade perfectly into the backdrop, yet you’ll still catch yourself glancing at it from time to time. For the first time in a consumer router, the antennae are carved directly into the clear plastic of the center cone, making them virtually invisible.

As a Wi-Fi 7 system, the X3 Pro can deliver a total of 3,570 Mbps across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands, without sacrificing any of the important functions. So you can stream all of your 8K videos at the same time, play games without lag, and transfer data to your NAS storage at lightning speed. The main unit features three Ethernet ports: two are 2.5 Gbps, ideal for establishing a high-speed cable connection to your NAS drive, while the third is 1 Gbps for general use. WPA3 is the standard security network, and the Huawei Smart Life app configures it all in minutes, including the ability to use the Game Turbo feature to reduce latency during heated gaming sessions.

Mesh networking takes it to the next level with hybrid smarts. When the main router is paired with one or more satellite nodes, each a smaller version of the original, coverage is spread out safely. The system combines wireless with PLC 3.0, which connects to your home’s electrical wiring for a wired-like backbone. This is especially useful for homes with thick walls or sprawling layouts where standard Wi-Fi may struggle. A single satellite kit covers most homes, but add more for larger places and the whole network self optimizes without any manual intervention. Huawei has tested for seamless handovers between nodes so devices stay connected as you move from room to room.

Pricing makes it more affordable, at least in China where it launched on November 25, 2025. The single main router is 1,299 RMB, or $184. The two unit package with one satellite is 1,999 RMB ($282) and add more satellites for 799 RMB each ($113). No word yet on global availability but Huawei’s track record suggests it will roll out soon.
